"A portrait of my husband and our marriage, once a week, every week, in 2013."

Richard: lost in that endless blue horizon. The reflection of the clouds lining up perfectly with his eyebrows was a happy accident!

We: were lucky enough to take a break in far north Queensland last week. This image was inspired by these unforgettable family portraits. I absolutely love the rich, robust nature of a tropical climate, there's nothing quite like the majesty of the rain forest and the ocean side by side.

Last week, I was transported by this image of Barbara and her precious baby bump in a sea of gold.

Holding onto what's golden

Man, this week. It wasn't my favourite.

The beach is one of the best ways to bring me back to centre. I never thought I would end up living by the sea, but now I don't know how I ever lived without it.

We spent the final hour of light on a blustery, chilly Friday afternoon watching heavy waves lash the coast. Together, dusted with salt as the wind howled and the golden light lifted us into the weekend.

"A portrait of my husband and our marriage, once a week, every week, in 2013."

Richard: Tough Mudder.
We: are constantly reminding ourselves to put away distractions and spend time just being together. When we do, we're at our best.

Last week, it was quiet moments of childhood wonderment that caught my eye. Whether it be sleeping under the stars, discovering the clouds in the sky or watching the world go by in the afternoon sun.

I wanna be with you everywhere

This morning I lured him out of bed and aaall the way across town under the guise of interiors inspiration and the promise of an amazing breakfast....knowing full well that Kara Rosenlund, Frankie and a treasure trove of amazing vintage wares would be waiting, having all made the long road trip down the east coast.

Beautiful. So, beautiful. I wanted to buy All Of The Things!

We drove there in the shiny Autumn morning sunshine, playing Fleetwood Mac, all the way to eleven. Yep.

Gorgeous Kara and Frankie will be back again tomorrow, I'd recommend a visit if you can get there.

Homepage for the homeless

Source

Do you love shopping online? Me too.

Do you want to do something about youth homelessness in Australia? ME TOO!

It's shocking to think that literally tens of thousands of young people will be homeless in Australia tonight.

I've just come across a fantastic initiative that, as a rather prolific online shopper I can't believe I didn't already know about.  Maybe you and your friends don't yet either.

Homepage for the Homeless is basically keyhole linking you to some major online shopping portals. These shopping sites offer a finders fee for directing customers to them. By clicking through these keyholes first, the finders fee goes towards projects addressing youth homelessness in Australia. It's so simple and clever!

It doesn't cost you anymore to shop this way, but any purchases you make will make a difference to a young person somewhere. If you're online shopping anyway, why not make it count, by starting here.

Happy Friday !

Melbourne, with Ryan Gosling

Ryan Gosling and I *ahem* I mean Richard and I, spent a weekend in Melbourne together a few weeks ago. I've been many times for work but usually that includes the airport, hotel, office and a carefully planned power shop to a few select stores. Exploring a place like Melbourne is the BEST. I could so easily be convinced to move to this town. It inspires me so much and there is such a wonderful culture of art, creatives and community. She is the Solange to Sydney's Beyonce. I'm plotting my return ;-)

See? Ryan Gosling!

Maybe these magical doors reflect your spirit animal or something ;-)

"A portrait of my husband and our marriage, once a week, every week, in 2013."

Richard: there's alot of talk about learning to surf this Winter.
We: are daydream believers.

Last week, I loved Preeti's radiant portrait of her son celebrating the new season.

House of Maryanne Vintage

Maryanne Moodie is someone I really admire. In addition to being a wife and mum, and just a straight up sweet and lovely person, Maryanne has a great eye for all things beautiful and well made. And luckily for us, puts her talents to great use.

Maryanne is the owner and curator of House of Maryanne Vintage, one of my favourite online boutiques. And she has some mad crafting skills, including her latest venture into weaving. This captured the attention of Lucy Feagins recently who featured Maryanne's work on The Design Files! You can read the interview here.

Lately, I've been particularly interested in hand woven fabrics and tapestries, I'm aiming to try and teach myself to weave one of these days.

So when I saw that Maryanne was creating these amazing pieces, I had to commission a HoM woven tapestry to call my own. I gave Maryanne a rough size and 'neutral palate' guideline. And after a few days at the loom, this is the final result. It is truly beautiful. I absolutely love the detail and texture from the reclaimed silk sari yarn and gold metallic thread Maryanne's used. A local and lovingly made, gorgeous piece of art now perfectly at home, in my home. Happiness!

Recently Maryanne moved her HoM Vintage store from Facebook to Etsy. You can find her here. Otherwise on her website, you'll find all the relevant social media links and contact details, you can check out her beautifully styled lookbooks and sign up to a newsletter to stay up to date on what this lovely and talented lady does next.

Inspiration

A week after the BHB Conference and today, just about everywhere I looked the universe was speaking to me.

Pip Lincolne was one of the amazing speakers last week. I took so much away from her talk but the thing that has really resonated today, was her suggestion that we need to look for the clues. To notice the happy moments around us. As creative people, we need to train our eyes to really look and see the things in our daily life. All the things that are already there to inspire us.

I'm so grateful that for me, this Easter weekend has been all about rest, spending time with my kinfolk and lots of quiet moments by the sea. This I've learned, is my knockout combination. Now to stay connected and mindful as the daily grind fights for that headspace!

I hope you're feeling renewed and inspired too.

Need a little spark? Check this out.
